Asif Anwar has done his Ph.D. in the field of Energy and Power Systems from the University of South Carolina in 2013. His research topic was the development of a new reclosing method for energy-storage supplied industrial microgrid. He presently works for S&C Electric Company, Chicago, USA in the position of a Senior Engineer to develop customized switching solutions for distributed power system equipment.
Previously, Asif has worked with Schneider Electric USA as a Senior Power System Engineer in designing protection and controls for automated power transfer systems for Industrial and Commercial Power System. Asif did his undergraduate and M.S. degrees from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh from the department of Applied Physics and Electronics (presently EEE) in 2003 and 2005, respectively.
Asif is also a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) from the state of California. He is also a reviewer of technical papers for the IEEE and IET Power System Journals. Asif’s research interests include the development of new methods and solutions for critical-power-system technologies that can revolutionize the industry domain.
Nimat Shamim, Ph.D.

Nimat Shamim is currently working as a Postdoctoral researcher in Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Richland, USA. Her research at PNNL mainly focuses on effectively implementing battery energy storage systems for various grid applications such as peak shaving and frequency regulation. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer engineering from Texas Tech University in 2018. Her Ph.D. thesis was on Model Predictive Control technology for grid integration.
She completed her B.Sc. in Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Dhaka in 2013. Her research interests include Battery Energy Storage Systems, Grid Integration with Renewable energy sources, Inverter Control Technologies.
Subrina Sultana Noureen, Ph.D.

Subrina Sultana Noureen is currently working as a Transmission Planning: Engineering Associate III at Lower Colorado River Authority, Austin, Texas, USA. Her job responsibility includes stability analysis, dynamic modeling, and analysis, and supports the Transmission system improvement plan and NERC Reliability standards. She graduated with her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Texas Tech University in 2019. Her dissertation was on Cyber-Physical Anomaly Detection on SmartGrid applying Machine Learning Algorithms on PMU and SCADA Data.
She completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Dhaka in 2013 and 2014. Her research interest also includes Generation and Load Forecasting, Real-Time, Grid integration of renewable energy sources, Cybers Intrusion, and Detection of Smart Grid.
Md. Minarul Islam

Md. Minarul Islam received his B.Sc. & M.Sc. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2007 and 2013. He also attended the exchange master’s program in the University of Flensburg, Germany. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Wollongong, Wollongong, NSW, Australia.
His research interests include grid integration of renewable energy sources, power system planning and control, inrush, and fault current limiter. From 2008 to 2009, he was with Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Co. Limited. From June 2009 to 2016, he was with Stamford University Bangladesh, Dhaka, and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. Since April 2016, he has been with the University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh, – currently on study leave.

Mahmud-Ul-Tarik is a lecturer at the Dept. of EEE, University of Dhaka. Currently, he has been working towards his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA. His research is mainly focused on power system optimization using different convex algorithms (SOCP & SDP).
Previously, Tarik worked as an assistant engineer and grid in-charge at the Gopalganj 132/33 KV grid sub-station under Bangladesh National Grid (PGCB). Tarik did his BSc from BUET in 2013 and MS from Northeastern University, Boston, USA in 2016.
