IEEE SB DU is proud to present a webinar on “Understanding the Synergy between Academia and Business – Opportunities for a Science/Engineering Graduate” on 20 May 2020, Wednesday. 9:00 PM BST onwards.
 
The webinar will be based on an open-ended discussion with the participants as the panel of invited speakers discusses the prospects of bridging the gaps between academia and business. The webinar will be hosted by Dr. Mainul Hossain, and graced by the presence of Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Ahad of Dept. of EEE, DU.

Mohammad Tawhid Reaz

Mohammad Tawhid Reaz, has graduated from the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics (now EEE) of the University of Dhaka and is currently the lead manager in the Consumer Post-Paid Sales department of Grameenphone Ltd. He has worked in Grameenphone Ltd. for the last 14 years and is also an adjunct faculty at the School of Business, University of South Asia, Dhaka. He is also an avid writer and blogger, concentration on socio-economic, cultural, and corporate issues.

Asif Anwar, Ph.D., P.E.

Asif Anwar, has also completed his graduation from the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, University of Dhaka. He had conducted his Ph.D. program at the University of South Carolina in 2013, focusing on the development of a new reclosing method for energy-storage supplied industrial microgrid. He had worked as a senior power system engineer for Schneider Electric USA and is currently a senior engineer for S&C Electric Company, Chicago, USA. In addition to his work, Asif Anwar also reviews technical papers for IEEE and IET Power Journals.

Together, our speakers will be sharing their valuable experiences on their scholarly developments, successes, achievements, and failures in the last 25 years, to the past, present, and future graduates of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (former APECE), University of Dhaka. They will be sharing their precious insights on the current course-work, classroom, and exam methods, and the benefits they have received from it. Finally, they will be discussing how academia-industry and R&D are interrelated, and why it matters to professionals graduating from an engineering or a technical major.
