Speaker Profile

Walid Bin Habib is currently pursuing his Post-graduation in the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering at the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany in the technical concentration of Energy Systems and Sustainable Materials. He is also working as a Scientific Assistant in the Research Group: Plasma Technology of Photovoltaic Division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Germany.


Earlier he worked as Scientific Assistant in the Production Technology-Structuring and Metallization (PSM) Department in the Photovoltaic Division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Germany.


He has been involved in project and research works since his undergraduate studies. During his Bachelor studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh, he completed a fair number of projects works in humanitarian technology recognized both nationally and internationally. He also mentored several projects at his senior years at DU and one of the projects were awarded as one of top 5 projects in the IEEE AIYEHUM 2017. Some of his project and research works have been published in different international conferences. Along with his authorship experience, he has organized several national events and international conferences. His current research is based on investigating the electrical characterization and edge passivation techniques of solar cells. His aim of research is to foster innovation in sustainable technical systems and abate climate change.


Mr. Habib has been volunteering for IEEE for the last 7 years. He is the past Chair of IEEE Student Branch University of Dhaka, Treasurer of IEEE Bangladesh Section Humanitarian Activities Committee and Ambassador of IEEE Xtreme 10.0 and IEEE Day 2016 and IEEE madC 2017. He received Best Volunteer Award of IEEE Bangladesh Section (Hon. Mention) in 2017.


He is an IEEE VOLT Graduate, currently the Brand Ambassador of IEEE, Corresponding Member of IEEE R8 Humanitarian Activities Subcommittee and German Team Member of YES Europe.
