IEEE Student Branch DU is proud to organize a two-part webinar series on “Power and Energy Systems Engineering”, conducted by Asif Anwar, Ph.D., P.E. The first part of the webinar series will be conducted on Saturday, 13 February 8:00 pm BST – hosted in Zoom as well as Facebook Live.
 
The speaker will discuss on and cover the questions that always rise in our minds regarding the day-to-day activities of a power system engineer, the technologies used in the industry and their applications. He will also show us the fun side of simulation and the vast horizon that can be explored by a power system enthusiast.

Asif Anwar, Ph.D., P.E.

Asif Anwar, has done his Ph.D in the field of Energy and Power Systems from the University of South Carolina in 2013. His research topic was the development of a new reclosing method for energy-storage supplied industrial microgrid. He presently works for S&C Electric Company, Chicago, USA in the position of a Senior Engineer to develop customized switching solutions for distributed power system equipment. Previously, Asif  has worked with Schneider Electric USA as a Senior Power System Engineer in designing protection and controls for automated power transfer systems for Industrial and Commercial Power System. Asif did his undergraduate and MS degrees from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh from the department of Applied Physics and Electronics (presently EEE) in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Asif is also a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) from the state of California. He is also a reviewer of technical papers for the IEEE and IET Power System Journals. Asif’s research interests include development of new methods and solutions for critical-power-system technologies that can revolutionize the industry domain.
